The Wolves Foundation

The Wolves Foundation is the official charity of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club. As a Community Trust, its core mission is to promote healthier, more active people, encourage lifelong learning and skills, and foster safer and stronger communities across Wolverhampton.

About the Wolves Foundation

The Foundation operates approximately 50 projects, across various teams:

The Youth Engagement Team runs the Premier League Kicks program, focused on reducing anti-social behaviour through football and community activities, as well as hosting visits to local schools and mentoring young people in Wolverhampton.

The Health Improvements Team organise and manage mental-health activities that are free to access for adults and offer support for mental wellbeing.

The Skills and Education Team aims to improve the communities financial resilience and employability through upskilling, support with CVs and mock interviews etc. The team hosts walking groups, chair exercise classes and much more, for the local community to have access to fitness activities, financial support and peers, without any barriers.

The challenge

Towards the end of 2025, the Foundation received the Household Support Fund grant from Wolverhampton Council for the first time. This funding presented huge opportunities to support the local community but also the challenge of distributing awards to recipients fairly and efficiently while mitigating financial risk.

“How do we track what’s being spent? How do we track what’s been issued across our teams so there are no duplications?” –

Ollie Locker, The Wolves Foundation

Due to the large volume of potential recipients, physical vouchers—which they had used in the past, were deemed inefficient and too time-consuming for the small team to manage, distribute and track.

The key requirement was a digital, trackable solution that would allow for internal auditing, prevent duplication across teams, and substitute for physical vouchers which were very limiting.

The solution

The Wolves Foundation proactively searched online for suitable solutions and discovered Evouchers. After reviewing Evouchers’ case studies from peers and organisations with similar use cases, they reached out to the team and got setup straight away.

The need was for a process that enabled the team to focus their time on the community support activities and not resource-draining methods such as manual reporting. The reporting functionality was essential for internal auditing and financial purposes.

“It’s been brilliant to track who’s given what, which participants had what, and how many they’ve had. It’s been spot on for our internal monitoring.”

Ollie Locker, The Wolves Foundation

The platform directly addressed the Foundation’s needs:

  • Reduces risk: Specific ‘grocery-only’ vouchers reduced safeguarding risks of funds being spent inappropriately
  • Removes duplication: the team can track distribution to recipients who engage with the Foundation across multiple teams
  • Reduces friction: delivery of critical support, such as food, is now available via email or text within 5 to 10 minutes versus the previous 24 hour window for food parcels
  • Improves choice: the ability for the recipient to choose from various retailers offers dignified choice and caters for cultural differences or specific dietary needs that pre-packaged food parcels often fail to address.
  • Reduces time: The shift from purchasing physical vouchers in-person, portioning the funds, and manually tracking distribution to ensure fairness, to a straightforward digital platform allows the team to spend more time with community members

“We turned a 24-hour waiting time into 5 or 10 minutes”

Ollie Locker, The Wolves Foundation

The team found the platform, including the ordering process and float balance updates, very straightforward and efficient. The Foundation and the recipients value the variety of offerings available via Evouchers and have shared support in the forms of grocery vouchers, prepaid cards for gas or electricity bills and even appliances such as washing machines and air fryers.

“Having a platform that allows us to spend that money efficiently has been amazing.”

Ollie Locker, The Wolves Foundation

Since adopting Evouchers to distribute the Household Support Fund, The Foundation have successfully issued well over 300 vouchers in just a couple of months.

The future

The Foundation considers Evouchers an essential part of its operation and confirms plans to continue the partnership going forwards.

They are currently applying for the new Crisis and Resilience Funding from Wolverhampton Council and intend to use Evouchers as the platform’s efficiency and ability to react quickly to people’s needs are key to the Foundation continuing to support the local community.
